About this website

Hi there.

I wanted to let you into a little secret… I have no idea what I’m doing, but who does? This includes how to write a blog or how to build a website. Actually, that last one's a lie. I built this one but...

As you can see, there are issues everywhere. The fonts are odd, the link colors are mismatched etc, and the design is not perfect. It’s all on my very long to-do list. The problem is, I’m a master procrastinator, and if I allow myself to focus on perfection, I won’t do anything at all. You’ve heard the saying “better done than perfect”? Well, I have that quote on a sticky note on my desk and for very good reason. Please overlook all the messy bits for now. I’m like a baby learning to walk.

So why am I here?

I'm teaching myself Web Development and I want a place to add notes, lists, projects and other bits and bobs. A place to moan about the terrible time I’m having doing something really fun and keep track of my progress whilst sharing all of that with at least one other person on the interwebs, hoping it will help. I suppose I should label it as learning in public.

There’s a great YouTube discussion here. on the topic of learning in public which encapsulates exactly what I want to achieve with this website. Paul and Mark talk through the benefits and how “Learning in public” is not always that. We often see a polished completed version of “how I already accomplished this (thing)” leaving out the blood, sweat and tears it took to get there. I’m hopefully going to share all of it, and at a later date, I can look back and see my progression.

In an article by swyx about why we should share our learning process, he said, “Make the thing you wish you had found when you were learning". You can read the article here.

I want to see someone else's struggle to know I'm not alone and It is infact hard for others and not just for me. Thats what I'm making here. So basically I’m making a fool of myself on the internet to make you feel better about yourself.

In Conclusion
